| ![]() | ![]() The problem is that the first stage of the process involves lying down and relaxing. You have to be relaxed enough to fall asleep before you can even begin astral projection. And unfortunately most people do fall asleep. This would normally be no problem. It would be a failure, sure, but with effort and practise the subject would eventually be able to maintain that relaxed state without falling asleep, and begin the amazing journey that is astral projection. Unfortunately something else usually happens before they obtain that state. You have no doubt heard of "lucid dreaming", these are dreams where you know you are dreaming, and you can you can control the dream. Often, when someone trying astral projection falls asleep they go into a sort of state of lucid dreaming. Because they were thinking of astral projection when they fell asleep the dream of it, and are able to control where they think they are going. Then when they awake, they think they really did manage astral projection.
